There is a skip type of situation that happens twice a day. It's called the "Gray Zone".
At dusk and dawn that area has the capability to reflect your signals in a most interesting way. It sweeps from east to west following the sunset or sunrise.
I made contact with an island in the Atlantic Ocean that most people don't hear from.
I was using my brand new to me Uniden HR-2510. The guy thought I was a local playing a trick on him. "Pico Island" is where he was.
The 2510 is not a power monster either.
