will it talk like a RCI some seem to give good reviews on the ears. or will it rank with the Kraco radios of oldJustinDePolis said:
wow picked off one of these radios on ebay for $137.00 only a week old and its a newer model. i must say i am impressed with it so far, just wanted another transistor radio to leave on all the time and not one of my tube radios or vintage transistor radios. but dang it's not bad, looks nice well marked laid out well. nice tight knobs has a kazillion channels on 8 bands great ears that i am surley a stickler for.only thing missing is a ANL & noise blanker but the tone knob it has works well. adjacent channel rejection ranks with my uniden washington. and much to my supprise it drives my old S & S scout tube box well over 1200 watts sumthin my cobra 2000 and uniden wash won't do they get it up to 850 maybe 900 watts. by itself with a 2 watt dead key it swings 18 watts modulation not bad. going to toy around with the watts and maybe just an experiment and disable the AMC limiter and see what it does. local talk for me the cloesest station is around 35 miles and most distant guy i talk too regularly is about 120 miles early mornings or late night and got a good report on modulation from a guy about 70 miles away using an atronn 99. did a little dx with it today and had no problems making contacts. side band seems to be stable its not an 2950DX or 2510 but for a low buck base not to bad. iwould recomend it fo a first time base or a second back up so fare well pleased with it. it does have a jack for a frequency counter on the back nice neat meter and mode lights too. using a tug 8 D104 with it but i still think i can get a little more audio out of it. waiting for a heavy dx day so i can put on some major watts to see what it will do. but i think it maybe a well underated unit. copper raves on them but they sell them too. i would rate it a high 8. waiting to do more ssb talking with it too. but if ur a magnum fan and want a base you won't go wrong to buy one.
