Magnum S-9, what is a good upgraded mosfet final?

Magnum S-9, what is a good upgraded mosfet final? Looking for more power than stock

Doesn't it have three 520s ? One driving two. Unless its the four digit mosfets.

If it's a newer version it already has mosfets. Even if it's the old dual 1969 powered version a mosfet mod would only give you maybe 5-10 watts. If you need MOPOWA get a small amplifier. The S9 radio's also come in an 80 watt version and a 175 watter. Sell the 45 watt one you have and get one of the higher output versions. You could also see about adding the RFX-75 to the radio you have I suppose.

if you can't more than double the power , why bother ?
unless you just want to spend money to see your power meter swing farther .

you can purchase the SX-175 option making the radio do like 150 and up, easy to install if you have a little electronic knowledge and if not just buy it and take it to your favorite radio guy, the SX-175 sells for just over 100, replaces the cases of your S9 and has the amp built into the bottom cover. I did it to a new S9 and it's cool looing and working. Just a note, you have to use an external speaker, with the amp it doesn't have a speaker in the bottom cover

Use IRF520N's from International Rectifier. These can take higher drain current than the standard IRF520's. They are a direct drop-in, just make sure that the biasing on them are re-adjusted. They should be in the area of about 3.6V +or- .1V.

~Cheers~

I think the Magnums have 2030's form the factory. I don't think it really matters though if you use the IRF 520 or 2030. Tell your friend there are no "magic bullets", fix the radio with the correct finals and run it like it is supposed to be run. If he want MOPOWA get an amplifier.

Also make sure you warn him about smoke and mirror shops that claim to get crazy power numbers from radio's. They sucker drivers out of their money every day.

They do come with 2030's but 520's are identical, They test the 2030's different for RF service, the 2030's are suppose to be better quality.

Just install 520's, I just did a Magnum S-9 and it does full output.

I had two s9's saw a little more punch with 2030s more then the 520 but it was NOT something to jump arround about. Fix the radio with what it came with; 520s,2030s. Hook up a 6x2879 amplifier and have fun rag chewing.

Iv seen even 1446 transistor put inside a radio that's retarded. Be careful u don't get hacked out of your wallet. 73s

S9

You want more power with a S9 ?...
Get u a amp and run with it...much cheaper going that rt...

I run the S9 w/1969 finals in it, run a MF 350 on the low side...talks great..
