@bjradionut: Thanks for the reply. I'm still building my station and I don't know a lot about this. If I don't need amplification to get good audio, then so much the better. That just means less expense for me. Do you think that there's a big difference between the stock mic and the MD100? Enough of a difference to merit the expense?

What about the MFJ-299 desk console? Are they any good?
