Just an awsome sight and sonic boom this meteor gave off INCREDIBLE!!! It was estimated at traveling at over 100,000 MPH!! Now thats moving!! There was a man in Madison Wisconsin about an hour West of me that heard a chunk of it hit his shed as the Meteor started to let go and fall apart and sure enough he found it the next day very cool but also strange the say meteor in this 2 day meteor shower travel North and South this one particular meteor had traveled East to West which they dont quite understand. Then again how does anyone understand something that can travel across the sky at 100,000 MPH.

Heres some footage they say this could have been anywhere from the size of a mans fist to the size of a human head it seemed so much bigger and caused major Chaos much bigger than something of that size Very interesting to say the least.

Funny that there wasn't much to-do on the cable or network news about this dramatic event in human history. Thanks for the post.

Space Weather News for April 15, 2010
SpaceWeather.com -- News and information about meteor showers, solar flares, auroras, and near-Earth asteroids

MIDWESTERN FIREBALL: A brilliant fireball streaked across the USA on the evening of April 14th, startling observers in Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri and surrounding states. Experts say it was a small asteroid, about a meter wide, that exploded in mid-air with an energy equivalent to some 20 tons of TNT. National Weather Service radars detected the fireball's debris trail, resulting in maps that could help guide meteorite hunters to fragments on the ground. Pictures and more information may be found on today's edition of SpaceWeather.com -- News and information about meteor showers, solar flares, auroras, and near-Earth asteroids.

VOLCANIC SUNSETS: A cloud of ash from Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano is drifting across Europe this week and causing sunsets of surpassing beauty. Europeans are encouraged to look west at the end of the day. Bonus: If you don't live in Europe, look west anyway. Venus, Mercury and the crescent Moon are beaming through the twilight for all to see. Very cool thanks for the link I knew it was old new but have been seeing more on our news about it and posted because I was curious if any other members of the forum had seen this in there area or state aswell. 2 of my kids are radio amateur operators aswell as myself and my wife and my son is fascinated with space and its activities none the less very mysterious and interesting ;)

One day many years ago my father and I were driving into the city to see my mother who was in the hospital, and we saw a fireball break up.It was just after supper in the summer so there was still plenty of light. It broke into several pieces just west of Halifax and left many trials that were coloured bright green, purple and bright white with smoke trailing behind each one of them. Some were said to have impacted the ground but AFAIK none were ever found. I do know that you could smell a distinctive smell of brimstone at the time which led me to believe it was really close. It was a spectacular sight to see even in broad daylight. We turned the radio on and heard that the media as well as emergency services were flooded with phone calls. The area it happened in lies on an air corridor for inbound flights to Halifax International airport.

I've seen something similar in Ione, Washington (15 min from Canada). I was outside at around 5 a.m. and all the sudden a bright blue flash lit up the sky and continued to streak west across the sky and left a trail of smoke for at least 20 min in the sky...amazing sight, I will never forget it.
