MFJ 267 Dry dummy load/ wattmeter

I am looking into getting an active peak meter and am limited. I posted a thread on another meter as well. I would like to know if anyone has any input on this meter/dummy load. Is it accurate, and built with quality? I also am assuming that it is even an active peak meter, but may not be. I know they can't all be bird meters, but I can't afford one nor can I have one endlessly calibrated. I just need something better than a Dosy, which isn't accurate at all for peak measurements. Any input is appreciated.

I cannot speak about the meter portion but the dummy load is only a 50 watt load resistor and calling it a 1.5 Kw load is really an injustice. I have the same load resistor in my MFJ-260c dummy load. They claim it will take 1.5 Kw for 10 seconds but I would not want to try it. I have used it at 100 watts and anything more than a minute or two and it gets hot.

You sure it is 50 watts? I have one of theirs that is rated 200 watts continuous and 1500 watts for 10 seconds. I know they sell 50 ohm 200 watt dummy load resistors and that is what is in mine.

Well if it was a 200 watt resistor then it is certainly the smallest 200 watt resistor I have even seen. Just going by the size I figured about 50 watts. I have used many 100 watt resistors in the past and they were about as long as the entire MFJ dummy load and about a full inch in diameter. BTW just because MFJ says it is a 200 watt resistor does not mean it is a 200 watt resistor. The 250 watt resistors I have used were about a foot long and a good inch and a half in diameter.
