i got this awhile back but never used it..the one i wanted would of gone on the base of the antenna but appearently this one goes on the back of the radio..i just went ahead and put a coax choke at the base of the antenna..would it be advisable to put this one on the radio also ? whats the difference between the one for the radio as opposed to the one on the antenna ? would one see any favorable results with only using one on the radio if you had nothing else ?

Splash 1,
That MFJ-915 is the same thing as a coax choke, it just uses ferrite 'beads' instead of a coil of coax. It isn't a balun, by the way, and why MFJ calls it a "Line isolator".
It can be placed at the radio or at the antenna end of the feed line, it won't make a huge difference. Closer to the antenna is typically 'better', it 'isolates' more of the feed line. Want to use that '915 and your present choke? Have at it, shouldn't hurt a thing.

thanks DOC..since i had it laying around i went ahead and put it on..dont know if it does anything but it didnt hurt my swr any..i was thinkin that it mite clean the audio kinda like the oppisite of clipping the limiter..clipping the limiter splatters rf all over the isolater ought to be just the opposite..

You're right, that line isolator does the opposite of 'clipping that limiter', but, that doesn't mean it will 'clean up' any splatter that's already present. It will only reduce any CMC on the feed line, which has nothing to do with splatter anyway. You are also right in that it typically doesn't hurt a thing even if it's not needed.
