Maybe you can help. I have the meter about 3 days. I set the unit with my radio on 10 meters 28400 am to the lowest SWR possible which is about 1.1 to 1. If I talk while still on AM the needles moves substantially. Every one says that they shouldn't move. What I mean by moving is the forward needle goes from 11 watts when silent on the high power setting on the meter to about 35 watts. The reflected needle goes to about 5 watts from almost 1 when silent. Is this incorrect? I have been using the radio and making good contacts but worry about burning the radio up if set wrong. Can you help with my question? Thanks Ron

If I talk while still on AM the needles moves substantially. Every one says that they shouldn't move... "everyone" is wrong,

VSWR is checked with a "dead" carrier only.

any audio WILL cause the reflected/fwd power to chage and that will move the needle.

the CB'ers call that SWIIIIING!!!!**Jump_im**

The meter isn't actually responding to SWR, it's responding to reflected power, which will change as you change forward power (like when you're talking). The change is in a RATIO determined by what's going on right at the feedpoint, where the coax meets the antenna.
