We have all come to almost expect something wrong with an MFJ product, usually a poor solder joint or loose hardware, but this has got to take the cake. I mean for God's sake Martin, get with the program.

For some reason I can't post an image link or an attachment. Stay tuned it's worth it. I'll try and solve the issue.

OK for some reason I can't upload from an outside image site at the moment. Check out the red arrow in the attachment below. I got this off a website and apparently Ameritron has shipped MANY amps with this same issue. The meter must be made in China where that is how they would pronounce REFLECTED.

minor spelling error...not a significant problem to me. I know what it means.

the bigger problem is the ZERO forward watts with 48 REFECTED......i thought the ads said 1200 out ;-)
REFECTED.....isn't that what you get when you spend all your money on the 'ladies'......

That's not the issue. Loose hardware and poor solder joints are not an issue for me either as I consider myself to be an expert solderer,(did it professionally with commercial gear for over 20 years) and I can pick out or tighten hardware. The issue is about producing a quality product with attention to detail which shows that you actually give a damn about what you make. The meters should never have been installed and returned to the factory. This kind of action simply reinforces the notion, whether rightly or wrongly, that MFJ really does stand for Mighty Fine Junk.

Call em up and ask if they have replacement meters available. Bet they send it out to you free of charge. Couldn't hurt to ask! I would.

LOL

picky-picky

I'm sure it was a judgement call and bottom line wins.

Besides, most geeky hams will have a soldering iron AND a stamp labler (hi hi)

In any business I have known if the goods delivered are not what was speced the goods have been returned to sender at the senders expense or simply had delivery refused. With all the business MFJ does a supplier I am sure it could have been made right with no cost to MFJ. That's how the company I work for operates.

And just for grins... that amplifier is in 'Standby' and the meter is for HV1(?). Won't show any power at all in standby, I would think. Oh well.

Assuming the designer did not fubar the silk-screen art. One of our artists made a "Produce Brochure" LOL!!! Do you think the offset printer cared before burning off 4000 copies?

I'm sure it was probably the mfg. who misplaced his glyph.

And nothing said that did not happen, but I'm sure they wanted to ship what they had to keep that cash-flow going.

If they did fix it, I'd pay more for the mispelt one...

The amp is not showing any output and the meter is reading the 50 volt MOSFET power supply voltage which is always present when the amp is turned on whether in standby or operational.
