I have a Midland 77-106 that has a 4 pin mic but it's not the typical 4 pin like what a Cobra uses. I've seen some Realistic radios use it but looking at the plug, all 4 pins are on the upper half.

Anyways, I am trying to find out what wire is the one that sends the signal into the radio when you key the mic. I tried looking online but no one has any schematics of this radio. I'm almost positive it's the white wire....can anyone plz help? What to look for?

TIA

The audio lead will be the wire with the shield wrapped around it.

First off thanks.

However I do want to ask this....is the audio lead the wire that sends the signal from the mic to the radio, or is it the wire that supplies the mic with the current to make it work?

Also this is what kind of socket I'm dealing with if it helps any....

the audio wire is the wire that goes all the way up to the element in the microphone. the transmit is the switched side of the ptt switch in the pic. one side is grounded and the other is open. when the ptt swich is engaged it grounds the transmit pin.

its pin 1

Carl,

If I were to connect pins 1 and 2 together, would this cause the radio to go into TX mode?

Thanks.
