I'll first start with my current setup; Uniden pc78ltw tuned, Astatic 636l mic on a 1999 Toyota 4Runner. I have had a k30 and a Wilson little wil(current) for an antenna. Recently, I got a Predator 10k with a 12 inch shaft mounted with a magnet(do not want to drill holes on vehicle). Being an SUV I knew I would run into issues with height in town, but even out on some of my favorite country roads the 10k was getting nocked off. I want a great performer, just not 6ft high because of SUV height. Any suggestions on this antenna dilemma would be appreciated.

If you don't want to drill a hole you will need a tri or quad magmount to hold a large coil.
I do not think you will find any kind of lip mount that you can use on the back that will handle the wind load.
No rack on the top?
I have used rack mounts in the past, but you have to make sure it is well grounded.

Apparently the edit button below which says "Edit/Delete Message" won't actually let you delete the message, unless I missed something... If I could have deleted this post I would have...

get a tri pad or quad pad for that antenna.if you got ribs running down the roof [like my mini van] you,ll have to play around a bit to get the magnets around the ribs.dont sit it on the
ribs if possible mine wouldnt hold there either.

Thanks for the help guys. When I drive the 4Runner I am always thinking about the hight of the ant. I have only had one problem with a tree limb, but the wife is another story... The poor antenna gets nocked off every 5 mins and both the antenna and I get verbally abused. I am going to have to leave the little wil on for now. I was wondering if there was an antenna that was midstream of a little wil and the 10k.

Thanks,
Nick

yes there is. its a wilson 500.. its a lttle longer than a lil wil . but shorter than the wilson 1000 and 5000.unfournately no single mount will ever hold that 10k. believe me i tried
you,ll must either use a tri pad [3 magnets] or drill a hole.now you use to be able
to get a second coil and turn it into a dual coil shortening the overall lenth. if ya wanted
to shorten the lenth.
