Mobile HF Whip

I'm looking for a 12'-16' mobile HF whip antenna that uses a 3/8" x 24 mounting bolt. I have been using an 8' whip, but it doesn't tune well below 20 meters. My radio is a Motorola Micom 2TS, which also has ALE capability. Since I would need to change channels quickly, across many bands, single band Ham sticks will not work, and motorized antennas are just too bulky for the setup I want.

There are two manufacturers of the type of antenna I'm looking for, Motorola and Shakespeare. Motorola's FAD 1400 12' whip takes 18 weeks to ship, but uses 3/8" x 24 mounting hardware. Shakespeare's 120-99-4 16' whip has a lot of unknowns, including price, shipping time, and base hardware.

Does anyone know of any other whip antennas? Even used would be great.

Thanks!

I'm using this HF radio in a car and want to use my ball and spring mount on my rear quarter panel. I will be tying the whip over my vehicle in an NVIS configuration.

The shakespeare military version Beetle suggested is what came to mind for me, as well. I think I would start there.

I met a guy at a hamfest that had a two piece marine whip in a mobile setup. They were 11' sections that screwed together.

You might contact K0GB and pick his brain. Dude knows many people with specialized mobile arrangements.
