Replace 5 disc caps and take one off the board. Doesn't sound terribly difficult. At $.10 for each cap, it won't break the bank either. Couldn't take more the 30 minutes to do. Hope he doesn't charge too much . . .

i had that particular mod done with a handful of others. cost was all inclusive.

The src bandwidth mods
Ok I need to chime in here since this is about something i do to just about every radio that comes in and it is very popular for good reason it does make a cb radio have a more expensive rx sound to it. Ok number 1 it is not hi fi hi fi is a term for stereo, I prefer to call it mid fi because i liked how that sounded and i coined the term and it fit`s, ok # 2 when i originally found out about the mod from mmm`s website i like the idea because i was allways into audio and good sound. The first radio i did i was just mildly happy so i decided to really disect it an low and behold there was room for improvment, so i did about 3 hrs of trying different value caps and different versions as well and i really love the results now.
Also everyone i have done it for loves it so you have to go by what your customers say. So all of the original values have ben changed to my own values after doing research and i is nothing like the original mod now the 25 an 29 etc i developed on my own. I also have come up with my own values and locations for several other radios small uniden mobiles and cobras etc etc. No what i charge for it is the business of me and my customers. I do not hold a gun to there head to get it done and they are allways very happy with it. If they cant do it themselves the let me do it for a price which is the american way is it not. I had to do the research and i have to stock the parts and perfect it. antone who knows how to mod radio`s can easily do it to any radio like i have. and i am also now expierimenting with audio preamp sections in my radios i do with some nice results as well. I shoot for a more flat mid sound ith a bit more highs and lows. No one has ever wanted it removed. It is much more noticable on am vs ssb due to the 2.6 khz filter on most cobra ssb radio`s. It does make a single conversion rx sound much nicer as well. I hope this has cleared up some of the mis information on this subject. This video is a before and after graphical view of the mod on a old 148 gtl and i will be posting the same on a 25 and 29 etc. Tim

Visit wwpdx and look it up, Goldfinger pioneered broadbanding TX & Rx.
Did that to most export radio's as well 2 decades ago.
Luckily my new and other ham radio's can recieve and tx from 50 Hz to 4 KHz out of the box.
Use good quality speaker broadband with the same range ( 50 Hz to 8 or 10 KHz )
THe FT991A and FT2000-D both have parametric equalisers fully setting the TX audio as you like, and the Eqplus has an equalizer as well.
Mostly seting it up for ragchew, and limiting bandwidth on the fly in the set from 50 - 3100 Hz to 300 - 2600Hz for DX if need be.
But even on ragchew setting i get good DX.
