Hello to all! I have a Teaberry Model T radio that I would like to wire a Motorola HMN-1049A microphone to. The Teaberry is a 4 prong but the Motorola has 5 wires. I am having trouble wringing out the wiring on the microphone. Can anyone shed some light on how I can properly make this work? A while ago somone posted instruction on how to wire a microphone to any radio but I can't find it anywhere.
Thanks.

Motorola had a standard wire code. Do the colors on your mic match those below ?

Mic Low - Shield
Mic High - Brown
PTT - Green
Ground - Black
PL Disable - White

Some of their mics required
"bias voltage on the audio high line to make it work."

When the switch was made to more modern mic designs back in the 60's, backward compatibility was maintained and as such the mobile Motorola mics still require that voltage on the audio line.

Yes, the wiring you describe is correct. In fact, there is a circuit board inside the mic. I guess it's way too advanced for my Teaberry T. Too bad, I like the heaft and design of the mic. It would be great to chuck the guts of the Motorola and replace it with something that fits and works using the attractive Motorola shell. Any ideas???

I just tore the Motorola apart and simplified it. I wired the ppt switch directly, bypassing the circuit board and replaced the origional element with a D-104 element and substituted the fine wired coil cord with one that has wires that solder better. Ya, lot of work on an old mic, but I like the style and heaft of the Motorola.
