... so you could get a good chuckle after seeing his crazy-retarded install. Better lock that thing up, or someone is gonna steal all the copper out of it!
Here's my mobile install. Small, yet effective.
_____
My 10 meter rig... Magnum 257. Mouted "sideways" to the passenger side console kick panel. Antenna is a roof-mounted K(rap)-40, shortened a bit. Antenna is mounted up high, right in the middle of my Mazda Tribute. (same as Ford Escape).
_____
My 2 meter rig... A thrown-out 2.5 watt @12VDC 150 MHz intercom mfg by RITRON. It has 10 'channels', and I re-programmed them to the active 2M repeaters in the area, of which there aren't that many. The extra 3 or 4 channels I had left I programmed to state and local law enforcement freqs, TX inhibited, of course. Antenna is a 5/8 wave dealio, mounted high up on the roof as well. 2 watts gets me into the W4CA repeater most anywhere in the Roanoke Valley, full quieting.
_____
The mic hanger. A little Motorola piece that lasts forever and "clips" to the back of the microphone. Then you can hang the mic just about anywhere. I chose the cancer stick igniter.
_____
The booster blaster. Mounted up and under the dash. Powered directly to the battery. The 12vdc power cable you see is not the primary power cable for the amplifier, rather it is the supply to the radio. This is a semi-custom class AB amp, "true" 100 watt. It will amplify a 100 watt AM carrier that is then modulated 100% without distortion. Hence "Linear", not "SplatMaster".
Go look at cotton mouth's post in this section. Absolutely incredible, and I hope he keeps up posted along the way and that we get pics of the final product.
