a base radio is just the guts of a mobile in a bigger box with a power supply built in and a different layout for the dials , switches and meter . unless someone is a real asshole on the air the fcc will never know you exist , just show a little consideration for your neighbors and you'll stay off their radar .

a properly tuned radio wont cause problems with your neighbors either . but some antennas are known to typically cause bleeding issues , it seems the ones with full 1/4 wavelength ground elements seem to not bleed as much as ones that don't .

but it's your money so spend it how you want to
