I haven't owned a 98VHP. I know it uses the same board as the 95t, 93t, 48T with different finals. If I was going to buy a new radio, I'd go to DTB Radio. As far as a mic, I like the Astatic 636L and the Turner RK56. I trade out between those two mics on my 95t2.
