I have a older president dwight d radio was wondering if anyone could tell me how to adjust the swr,s on it. and if not will a swr/power meter work? Thanks

jess you adjust the antenna, not the radio for swr.

trying to find a pic of the radio so I can see what you have but not having much luck

find the swr / Cal switch and set for calibrate.
key the mic and turn swr calibrate until it's @ 100%/SET marker.
reset the first switch to swr and key the mic.

meter should read current swr setting

hope that's whet you were trying to find.

OK maby I should rephrase that. You have a base radio, coax and antenna set up and you are testing. Have you found that you have a high reading on your SWR meter in the radio. and you need to correct it. or you need to know how to test your SWR? also the type of antenna and if you have radio experience or not.

Thanks alot will try, this radio swrms sit at past red and dont move very strange.

Yes some with other radios but not this one. It has a older fiberglass antenna about 14 feet. looks the age of the radio.

ya I kinda found the problem the connection were the coax screws into on the radio I have to wiggle it around alot to get a signal.

Redo all connectors then and use a multi meter (volt/ohm) meter and check all connections. Ohm all connections with the meter, center to center pins you should have continuity, same on the outer part of the connector. If you have continuity between the center pin and outer shell of the connector something is wrong. Sounds like it's time to get your soldering skills on and learn how to install pl259 connectors. They are not hard to install but need to be done right.
