Will most headset cb sets with microphone work in the older Royce 4 pin. Radios
I also convert most of my radios over to the 4 pin Cobra standard, even those difficult to swap out Din jacks. I could be wrong, but I think it would be difficult to find a low Z boom mic to match that Royce without paying up the nose. Just about all the headset/boom mics these days are electret condenser, but that wouldn’t stop me. I prefer electret mics anyway. Adding a little phantom power circuit inside the radio to accommodate one is easy.

Thanks all.ill admit some if it was a bit over my head but I think I can do the re solder on the pin wires but I think for now I'm going to look for the one that oldtymer suggested if that will just screw on the radio and work

All of the headset / boom mics will require some reworking at the plug end. I like oldtymer’s Koss SB40 suggestion also, but keep in mind you also need to think about how and where he wants to key the radio. The Koss SB40 will need some sort of external push button or switch. Some base stations use a foot switch. Some drivers have a push button clipped to their shirt or steering column. In any case, there’s no easy plug and play solution. The two small plugs on the end of the mic will need to be cut off and additional wires will need to go to a switch mounted somewhere. All the wires will then need to be sorted out and soldered into your new 4 pin plug.

Thank you for the help.i think at this point it will be much easier to just get a newer radio and to not bother with all the work involved in making a older radio work.
