Need opinions on my first HF rig

I'd be all over the G90 of it were $100. Maybe $75 for a used one. $500 for a 20 watt HF rig that looks like a Boafeng knockoff seems a little ridiculous.

Regarding the Xiegu radio. I have a friend that is constantly ordering the various Chicom VHF and UHF mobiles and is continually disappointed in the small size, poor ergonomics/build quality and weird operational and programming methods. Also complains the mikes are poor quality and so on.

Then a couple of months later he tells me about some new model he has ordered.

I'm not knocking ordering a cheap $30 Chinese HT but I sure wouldn't invest $500 in an HF rig.

Listen I was merely playing devil's advocate when starting out you don't a rig like the 7300! Hell, you really have no idea what you need. As for 6 meters, I have it here and hardley ever use it. Twenty years ago I used to have four elements for 6 at 65' and I can still count on my fingers the number of contacts I have made on 6. If the OP has the funds and wants to get the 7300 then get it, I merely pointed out a cheaper option that will get him on the air in fine fashion.

I have Thousands of contacts on 6 meters including (49) states so far & I don't even know the number of countries. It is an Awesome band when it is open & I use it more then any other band including the HF Bands. It takes a lot of effort to make some of those contacts but I feel if the contact is worth making then it's worth working for it unlike the FT8/FT4 & other digital modes crowd who are so lazy they let their computers make the contacts for them while they sleep or go fishing. If a contact is made at my house it will be done with a microphone & I will be the one making it. I have 6 meters on all three of my HF radios (ICOM 7600,ICOM 746,& Kenwood TS-2000) & I will have one of them always tuned to somewhere on the 6 meter band as well as a Midland 6 meter FM rig always tuned to 52.525. 6 meters has been open every day this week & several days last week & lots of filks use their HF antennas with a tuner to make contacts. I have a 5 element M2 up for the Magic Band & a Kilowatt from my ICOM PW-1 so I work anything I can hear. I also use 10 meter FM when the band is open & it has been rocking the last week most every day in case you did not know.
