He (My Cousin Boom) didnt want to mount it on the roof so we decided to put it where his mag mount was, on the trunk. Only thing is, his got a big ole spoiler on the back of it. This thing gets out with no problem at all, SWR is @ 1.3-1.4:1. We only need to retune the 10K to bring the SWR back down, other than that, Its all good. Just need some input on good or bad about the mounting/placement. The bottom shaft stands 3 inches away front the bottom wing. Now Im thinking if that tail will act like a reflector or not. Iʻll try to get some closeups tomorrow and yes, I did ground the trunk lid to the body via braded coax jacket. All I had.

I dont care much if the spoiler help or not, just need some feedback. He had the spoiler there long before he started back into CB since Dec of 2010.

Most important thing is your SWR. If it's acceptable then your good to go. I imagine the spoiler will cause some distortion to your radiated pattern, but you already know that yourself.

As long as it tunes....your good to go.

Thanx!!!

Looks like you guys used a trucker mount from a mirror bracket.
I would replace it with puck mount.
The PBR can might perform like a director. LOL

Is that can of PBR glued to the top as an ornament? And you mean to tell me that they actually go to the trouble of shipping PBR to the islands? Mercy

This is the best one I've seen in I don't know how long! (I love puns! Especially 'droll' ones.) It's so good, it's already been awarded a 'Blue Ribbon'!
- 'Doc

(How does it work? If it works satisfactorily, and if the SWR isn't bouncing off the top peg, then it's working well enough. I assume the spoiler is metal [not the one in the black top by the way], so it could make things sort of directional, but not much.
I think I would agree about the type of mount used. Considering the amount of force (wind resistance) the antenna will have at speed, a mount that distributes that force over a larger area would be nice. Or use a 'backing-plate' on the inside of that lid.)

like Kor B mentioned, its a Director. @ W5LZ, it does flop around w/that trucker mount, not much room on the inside for a puck too. All of the braces beneath the trunk lid are in the way. Thanx for the feedbacl. Those PBRʻs really taste good. Got a case of twelve 24oz cans for $14.

You best bet is a good tri-mag mount for that location and switch to a higher quality beer.

PBR is known to cause blindness and social family disorder.
