Rodgerbird, do you work on folks radios or can you recommend someone?

More problems with my 2600. I've spent alot of $$ on this radio, and if it can't be fixed this time, I'm taking it out back and.........

Heard a "pop" while keying and now I can't tx. Took it to the local cb shop repair guy and he can't find the problem. (he really doesn't know the President line).

Any help would be appreciated, Hossless

Roger would also be my first choice on this radio.

Just wondering in what part of the world you are located.

Detailman, I think Roger would be a good choice - if interested. If not, I understand Bill @ Bill's2way is also very good with the president line of radios.

Rodgerbird, I haven't forgotten about sending you my 2600 to work on. I have just had a lot of personal family stuff going on lately.

I'll e-mail you when I get ready to ship it to you, it should be within the next week.

Hey Roger, anyone, WHAT GIVES???

I just hooked up my hr2600 just to see if it transmitted on ssb, fm or any mode. I reset the radio and it tx'd like nothing had ever been wrong with the radio This makes no sense. I hade this radio a couple months ago at the local cb repair shop and he couldn't figuer out why no tx. I left it over at a friends since then and picked it up a few days ago. I just decided to try it out before I sent it to Rodgerbird, and there is no more problem with the tx. This is very strange indeed... The 2600 is now tx'ing, I'm very happy but confused to say the least

I phoned my bud where I had left the radio, and he couldn't believe it either. We even tested it at his house a while back and no tx.

Bad/cold solder joints, we think.

I went in to fire the 2600 up and NO TX!! -again-

I called a local friend and he said solder joints. Well, I took the cover off the radio and while keyed up I pressed down on the solders with my finger in different areas, to no avail. Now I moved to the area covering the solders where the chipswitch etc is located, when I pushed down on the chipswitch the radio tx'd. Where might a bad/cold solder joint be somewhere under the chipswitch area that could be causing the transmit problem?

Thanks, Hossless
