There is an old 80's song on YouTube that I would like to download to my comp. and place into Real Player where I have all of my sound files stored.

I don't see anything to click on at YT to do that.

The song is not available commercially on CD else I would just buy it.

I have found an mp3 download for it but I don't use that format - don't have an ipod - don't want one.

Any way to do this?

Thanks for any help!

google you tube download help. I had a program that I could download from you tube but lost it when puter crashed. I think it was called zilltube if memory serves me correct

Hey thanks,

Just got it done with help from another site.

Used a Firefox add-on called Easy YouTube Video Downloader.

So I have it now downloaded in Quick Time Player (just the audio which is all I wanted) and it plays fine there but would still like to transfer it to Real Player where I have the rest on my sound files to keep everything in one place.

Can I do that?

What's wrong with MP3 format?? It has nothing to do with having or wanting an iPod. I have all my music files stored in MP3 format with a sample rate of 44.1 KHz and encoded at 256 Kb/s because they are easy to use and take up a lot less space than wave files. Almost any audio player will play them.MP3 files are pretty much a standard.

.rm is a horrible format.

Almost all of my DVD and bluray players, including my factory car stereo and portable boom boxes, will play MP3 format.

But there are freeware converters if you wish to search for one.

Hi CK, Nothing is wrong with MP3. It is getting it downloaded from the internet to a location in my computer that I can then transfer to Real Player. You cannot download directly to RP.

Thanks

OK, I see. You listen to everything thru Real Player as your main audio media player. I used to use Winamp but now I just use Windows media Player. Not the greatest but it is convenient and will handle most formats.

heres my 2 cents....if you have a droid phone you can download the TUNEE MUSIC app its file sharing and has almost everysong I want FREE! and downloads straight to my phones music files. then I can listen to it in my car or transfer to my computer NO problems at all. Great app. You wont be disappointed. all 1500 songs on my phone are from that app. and can plug my phone in to my PS3 and the music is on my ps3!
also there is an app called TUBE DOWNLOADER which is YOUTUBE but only downloads the audio to MP3 format also into music folder. Hope this helps.

Now that you have the mp3 on your machine you can convert it to rm format. It's been awhile since I've used it (I don't use real player anymore), but you used to be able to convert fully functional files during the trial period of this program:

RM Converter, Convert AVI to RM(Real Media), Convert MP3 to RM(Real Media), MPEG to RM(Real Media).

Now go stir those coconuts Gilligan! ;)

Hi there, That still isn't the problem. I don't see any provision with Real Player to import a file from another location in the computer. Doesn't mean there isn't one....just that I don't see it. All I see is that you download to RP from a CD or other external input device from the mic jack or other device like a cassette player.

i use a program called dvd video soft you tube downloader .it puts the music in a folder for me ,then i can just go to that folder ,either double click on the file to play it(that will pull up winamp to play)or right click on it and chose what player i want to play it .

cant you find the file and right click on it and chose the program that plays it??

also if you find the file you can copy n paste it into your real player playlist folder .shouldnt be that hard .

Hi Funky,

Nope won't do that apparently.

In Real Player there is TOOLS. There are tabs that say "Convert Media Format" and "Move Files" but they are ghosted and you can't click on them. There are no accessible file folders.

The only way to add to RP is to download off of a CD or other external input device.

When playing the item I have on QuickTime Player, you can't do anything with it but play it where it's at. There are no tools, no right-click on anything.

So I have the item I want and can play it where it is. Just would be nice to move it Real Player.

RealPlayer will play mp3. so you are having a problem with using RP to index your media content.

Do you have the free version or did you :)P) buy the the premium subscription and get roped into a nightmare?

RealPlayer Knowledge Base Home

Why would you want to use RP?

I would suggest VLC

Hi C2, No problem with MP3. Every single song and sound on my RP list is in MP3

It is the free version and otherwise it works great.

Why use it? Why not use it?

Use Windows Media Player?....I thought Windows-anything and Microsoft-anything was THE things to hate. Even God hates W & MS. That is why I chose something besides an MS product when I had a reasonable choice.
