Hey Flyers8527,

I don't know what channel you're on, but just wait until there is an opening. Then you can start by just asking for a radio check. Shoot all you have to do is compliment on how good somebody radio sounds and they tell you all about it.

I myself find the radio highly entertaining and always listening and checking the conditions. If you listen long enough you'll know how to jump right in there. Do you have a handle or call numbers you go by yet?

Some of the radio guys got their talk down, I am not that talented. I just go for the DX Land approach. Hope this helps get you started. Jeff aka Lucky

Jeffs advice is right on the money.Listen in for a while and see what others are saying. But be careful once you get the hang of it, it can be VERY addictive.

And the time will probably happen where an agitator will try to get you riled up don't let em get you too upset as that is what they feed on.

There are a lot of cool operators out there and a equal number of idiots, agitators and those that go in categories all their own.

Good Luck and have FUN as that is what its all about.

Flyer;

Welcome to the CB world. Its lots of fun and one can make a lot of new friends with this hobby.

I've been at it since the mid 70's and have enjoyed every hour that i've been at it.

The previous posts regarding agitators and idiots is correct. Don't let them influence you on how this hobby is.

Have fun jump in and say hi and a conversation will useally start.

Have fun

As the the others have said this should be for fun. There are too many people that take it to the extremes. Remeber, it is just a hobby. If you get some butt-head being a jerk to you, just ignore him/her. Some people get their kicks out of being a pain in the butt!

Just remember, that radio can be turned on AND off.

Have fun and enjoy the solar cylce in it's decline.

Being from South Jersey myself. What Ford is saying is true. We have a few guys on Base Stations around here. One guy all he says is "Midnight, Midnight Cowboy. We have another guy around here, allhe says is "ding dong". These guys are mostly on channel 19. Do not bother yelling at them. They will not stop. They are very annoying. I have just learned to move on.

In North jersey they got a guy that just whispers "I ain't got no panties on". It amazes me that someone would spend that kind of money and just say that all day. I hear him driving to work on 78 every morning. But, don't answer, just move along as rugrat said.

Hey Rylos,

At least you guy says something, The one down here we hear on channel 8 in the morning keys up with a HUGE carrier and says nothing with his roger beep. Or, I guess when he wakes up he turns the beep up and just says "che-che-che-che-che-che-che-che"
