Announcing a new feature unique to the Worldwide Radio Forum: A new Live DXSpot page including a live map! You can find the new page that shows the map with latest DXSpots fresh from the DXCluster servers, including frequency, spotting station, coments and time of spot at:
http://www.worldwidedx.com/dxspot.php
There are also links to the DXSpot Map on the main site homepage and the Navigation Bar underneath the site logo.
There are two limitations on the mapping technology. The first limitation is that to determine where to pin the marker on the map we have to look up the GPS coordinates associated with the callsign. If that individual is on DXPedition, the marker may not match his actual location. However the country listed on the DXSpot table will still show whatever the spotter input. The second limitation is if there is no GPS coordinates associated with the callsign, then we just place a marker on the country listed. However, if the spotter put in a country that Google doesn't recognize, Google guesses for us. Sometimes it guesses wrong. We can overcome this limitation, but we need people to inform us of when this happens so we can manually update our references.
That's about it...we hope you enjoy the new site feature and find it useful. After all, we can't be "worldwidedx.com" without our own DXSpot page, right?
If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
