and it will need a $100 cap job and alignment... no thanks. I will get a used HAM rig. my thought on straight 40 channel radios is never pay more than $40, 40+ SSB, never more than $150 and it better be something special. As for 10, 11, 12 meter rigs well maybe a little more money

Do they realize that even though it has never been used....the caps/diodes/resistors probably all need replaced.....seems like I read somewhere that the shelf life of those parts is 20yrs?

Maybe so but probably not. I have gear that is 40 years old and has never need a capacitor of any type replaced in it. Caps can dry out over time but there is no definite life span despite many people quoting one.Quality of manufacture seems to mean more than time when it comes to life span of capacitors. At least that is what I have observed in my 29 years of servicing commercial electronics gear.

That same seller had a Madison, rotary clock type, NIB listed for almost $700 + $78 shipping. I haven't seen it listed again. Ebay is starting to suck. Prices on used stuff is commonly listed higher than new at a retail store. I have seen several used Cobra 29 LTDs listed for $150, $200, even one for $240 AS IS. The nearest truck stop sells the 29 WX NW ST for $142.99 and it comes with a warranty. Too many "pickers" and "Pawn Stars" and "Storage Wars" It is good entertainment, but it makes everyone thinks their shit is gold.
