Ok guys im gonna pull the plug on a new radio. I am mostly SSB Im thinking omegaforce or CRE 8900 Which seem to be both out of stock at most places. So what do yall think?

thanks
Bobby

Has anyone got a radio from Yeticom nz? if so are they converted and tuned and what about the shipping charges???

I got my Optima this past May. It was $375 shipped to Ohio. They shipped it via UPS Worldwide Express. It took about 3 days from Hong Kong.

Basically, 300 bones for the radio and 75 clams for shipping. It comes with an invoice stating it cost $50, a customs and duty avoidance measure.

The Optima was fully converted and I suppose, tuned to factory specs.

I guess they could ship it by a cheaper means, but unsure how it would affect transit times and customs.

Yes, the radio plays well, but I still walk with a slight pucker having spent so much. I really don't think it's truly worth that much.

Others will disagree...

If SSB is your main operating mode, then I highly suggest the Optima. It's pricey but it's worth it. Feature-wise it runs circles around the OmegaForce. It tunes the frequencies just like a true HF radio, and it has selectable frequency increments. I can't compare it to the CRE 8900, but I find the CRE's clarifier wonky. If you do get the Optima, get the Icom HM-36 mic for it.

I have the yeticom already. I like the functions of the cre so it is gonna be my next rig thanks for all of the replies gentlemen....
