Hi folks, I am a newbie however I have asked questions before and you have been great. Now I must ask for your assistance again. I have a Citizen MPL 5 that was hacked by someone else. I have an identical unit however it is beyond repair (water damage) and I used this to return the working unit to stock. The ssb works great but I cannot get an am carrier. Any thoughts?

I have never seen one of those. Can't find any tech data yet.

In a more familiar-type SSB radio, a power transistor of some sort will be devoted to AM transmit, and serves to control the carrier level.

But without a diagram, I can't tell you where that part is, what type it is, or how to check it.

The calibrated eyeball can pin down problems if scorch marks or darkened components are visible.

I'll look for any info on file at work next time I'm there.

Gargle is your friend. Elektrotanya had a PDF of the schemo. This radio uses a large, white ceramic wirewound potentiometer marked VR4 to set the AM carrier. I'll guess that either this component is damaged, a wire has come loose from it, or your mode-selector switch has failed.

Some DC voltage measurements on either lug of this control while the mike is keyed on AM would be a good place to start.

This same question was asked on this forum back in 2020. I wonder if it was an issue with the radio.
First time I've seen or heard of these radios. Pretty nice looking, just the basic features. PLO2A, nice.

According to the bay ad below "same Cybernet PC board as HyGain 5, Colt Black Shadow, Cardon Iroquois 40"

This one is on the bay:
