I am still working on getting the bonds all done to the truck body parts...and have not even installed a matching cap yet... antenna does not like to tune on 10m or 6m yet...

Wait till I install the rest of the bonds, then it will be time for the amplifier!!!
BUT DO I NEED IT????

HF mobile is so much fun!! Have worked a lot of DX from my mobile. Have a ICOM 706 MKIIG, and a Tarheel 100A HP screwdriver antenna.
Not familiar with your antenna, does it need the Shunt matching coil on it? That usually only effects 80 & 40 meters impedance. And it will help SWR once you get the impedance balanced between both bands. (mine is around 48 ohms on 80 & 40 and right at 50 on up) Lots of bonding helps too.
Saw a couple of nice, used ALS 500M 500watt mobile amps at the Belton Texas Hamfest this past Saturday. Almost bought one of them. Guy only wanted $495 for it and I'm fairly certain that he would have taken $400-450 for it. But, I had my eye on a certain boatanchor receiver instead! (Hallicrafters SX-100b) So, spent my money on that instead. Works and looks like new!
Have fun DX'ing mobile, 100watts and great propagation are just about all you need.

Trucker: I have had some nice set-ups over the years, but this is by far the hardest I've worked to "do-it right"
I've used HamSticks/Hustlers...etc...for years...Just throw them on a mount and go and worked all over.
I have over time learned if you want them to be really good and efficeint...You must do the work.

On 75m last Friday morning when I logged...WA/NJ...There were Mich/Ohio/FLA.... op's all in there in a group...And every op in the group was hearing my mobile...Good conditions/ Yes! But still not bad for a 100 watts!

Well off to the commute....See what today brings
You have a fine day fellow mobiler...maybe meet you "In the Air":D
