The thing about a NPC mod is making sure that the modulation waveform isn't allowed to turned so high as to make the waveform get 'clipped' or begin to 'square wave'.  Or to put it yet another way, that it doesn't lose it best 'asymetric modulation'. 


TO adjust your modulation correctly after doing a mod like this, you will need to use an oscilloscope to be sure that you set it right.


Done wrong - it sounds like crap.

Done right - it sounds and works well.


An easy way is put in both the 'TopGun' compressor and modulator modules.  The TG compressor can be used on either AM or SSB modes.  The TG modulator will work only on AM.  The TG modulation still needs to be adjusted just the same for the same reasons.


''Mauldulator' also makes their own version of the NPC mod w/o clipping out the AM modulation limiter.

Impressive to say the least . . . Like it . . .
