We got a pile of NXDN HTs and a repeater to play with.

Any thoughts on setting these up on 2-meters for our club?

Would this be an appoved operating mode?

The following FCC emission designators apply to NXDN transmissions:
8K30F1E 12.5 kHz single channel digital voice
8K30F1D 12.5 kHz single channel digital data
8K30F1W 12.5 kHz single channel digital voice and data
4K00F1E 6.25 kHz single channel digital voice
4K00F1D 6.25 kHz single channel digital data
4K00F1W 6.25 kHz single channel digital voice and data
4K00F2D 6.25 kHz single channel analog CW ID

FCC standard emissions designators:
FM Voice on a 10 kHz channel (10m only): 10K0F3E
FM Voice on a 15 kHz channel (2m above 146 MHz): 15K0F3E
FM Voice on a 20 kHz channel (6m, 2m below 146 MHz, 1.25m): 16K0F3E
FM Voice on a 25 kHz channel (70cm and up): 18K0F3E
Narrowband FM Voice: 11K2F3E
1200 baud AFSK Packet: 16K0F2D
D-Star Digital Voice: 6K00F7W
P25 Digital Voice (“narrowband” Phase I channel)(C4FM, compatible four-level frequency modulation): 8K10F1E
P25 Digital Voice (“narrowband” Phase II channel)(CQPSK, compatible quadrature phase shift keying): 5K76G1E

So I'm wondering if it would be legal to transmit in either digital voice modes?

I'm not sure why it wouldn't be OK to use any of the newer digital modes, as long as you weren't also using some form of encryption. After all, ham radio encourages experimental stuff. In my mind this would be no different than trying various new digital non-voice modes, as well (digital sstv, for example)

I'm not sure, because I think that something as simple as voice inversion is not allowed...

But voice inversion isn't really "encryption". If I understand what I read correctly, NXDN is very similar to Icom's D-STAR, right?
