IM noticing some talkback happeneing thru my external speaker when I have the MIc gain up pretty hi, Ive been using an older handheld D104 for a while, and its just started this recently..

is there a normal explanation for this or am I going Nutz?

also the lights dim pretty hard when Im approching 100% modulation on AM/FM/SSB is that normal, and is it anything I should be worried about?

I dont have anything out of the ordinary done to the radio, I verfied the powersupply was slightly less than 14 voltsDC, and ive tweaked the pots a bit, AM keys 3 swings to 10, and ssb swings to 20.

its working fine, and I really like it, Im just checking on these things to try and make it last!

TIA

The bulbs that are in the Warrior and the Blackhawk are cheap. I replaced the bulbs in my Blackhawk with regular meter bulbs. Jake if you have the Warrior that I think you have it has the same thing done to it. As far as the talkback is concerned, it could be from a cheap extenal speaker, (no offense Matt), that lacks shielding, or maybe the radio is a little overdriven. If the performance has not changed just keep a close eye on it. You might hook it to a DC power supply and see if it still does it, if it doesn't then the internal power supply might be getting weak.
