Old Sherman Tank Of A Radio

Yeah I had one and LordsOfTheRealm from this site got it from me I dont know if he fixed it up or made a wheel chuck or boat anchor out of it or what happen there? They were pretty cool looking forsure they had that industrial look.

I've always thought they were real purdy-like, and yours is a Beauty!

I'd like to find one in mint condition so I could gut it and install a better radio board, maybe a 148GTL & Digiscan instead of that Sears Road-Talker/Penney's 6241 board - or so I've been told... same as Hy-Gain?

The functionality of the radio is not in question unless it deals with the faulty squelch control and the poor choice of valves in the PA section but more the rx audio which clear but lacking any body.

Don't know about the tx audio, never heard one that I know of on the air.

This is a custom 10 meter amateur radio using a DAK chassis. The radio was gutted of its old components and a Ranger motherboard was dropped in along with a power supply.

A D104 amplified microphone (grey base) is included in the auction as well as a clear face custom made dust cover. (pictured)

This radio has a female RCA jack on the rear (pictured) to trigger an external ham amplifier.

All controls work but due to the conversion some small compromises were necessary. For example, the RF output and Modulation meters work but are not accurate. The SWR and Signal Strength meters do function correctly.

On 10 meters this radio is capable of 300 watts output which is well below legal limit but should still give you enough power to break thru pileups.

**Please Note: This is an,"AM" mode radio only.

What Board?
AM only?
That is a VERY limited 10 meter radio.
Radio is capable of 300 Watts?
IS this with the external amp or just the radio?
That is not much of a heat sink for 300 watts
That listing is full of questions..........
