I am getting back into the hobby and am researching a new HT in that section of the forum... well, I am also looking into getting a moblile rig back in the car.

I have an old Kenwood TMV-7A that used to be in my old car. It worked fine the last time I used it a few years back, so I want to put it in my Xterra.

I had the head separation kit, and I think a wire was cut by a friend that was "helping" me get it out of my car... ugh. Well, the kit - DKF-4C has long since been discontinued, and I can't find it anywhere.

Is it possible that aother kid woud mate correctly and make this work, or should I rejoin the cut wire if possible?

Also, in my research, it appears that the Mic cable extension is basically a CAT5 cable - is this correct?

If so, the only cable it looks like I may need could be the one that links the head unit bracket to the main unit.

I have antenna mounting questions too, but will wait on those until I fing our of this is even worth doing. If not, I may en up shopping for a new mobile rig after all..

Thanks!

Bill

Well, it looks like that control unit connector cable just doesn't exist anymore... just my luck for leaving the rig unattended for so long.

On the bright side, I can just use it as a base unit as the power supply I get can be used for future replacements as necessary...

Looks like I get to do some more shopping afterall... ;)
