While using an indoor magnetic loop antenna, and wasting time trying to figure out what secret antenna to use that the HOA won't see, I ended up running coax out the radio room, front door, and attached to my Sirio performer 2000 mobile antenna, center-mounted on the SUV roof. Great SWR on 10 and 11 meters (1.1:1/11 1.5:1/10). I get about 15-20mile coverage for local 11m talk and have talked across the states on 11m and into Europe on 10m with about 40 watts or so. Is it a pain to connect and reconnect after running errands and coming back home, or if I'm not on the radio? yes, but it was a bigger pain not being able to talk at all.
