Opinion= Which is better Galaxy 95T2 or Magnum S9/175

I’ve owned the 440 and of course the S9, I’ll just say in my opinion they’re not even close to being the same. Yeah the board layout and all is identical for the most part but that’s where it ends, for me.

The 440/490 couldn’t receive as well or as quiet as the S9, my opinion.

Which one is better? Which one do you like?

Which is the best? Again, which do you like?

And this is where I stop beating my chest and proclaiming Magnum the king of the ring. And I can’t honestly argue where SSB is concerned cause I didn’t ever use it for that.

It will drift like a sailboat which is what Galaxy's do on SSB. On a serious note though if you run it on a base and can keep the room temperature steady once it warms up it will settle down and be ok.

Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it. I knew once upon a time they were a pretty sought after radio and it's been a pretty good while ago. I found the offering and just wondering if it's the nostalgia in trying to justify the buy or maybe someone saying it's a great ssb performer to give the nudge. I expect it to somewhat drift but it would be a base application in this case. I've been trying to see what pcb is in that rig but cbt has been down to see what the innards consist of.

I'm suspecting similar to the 98, 94 flavors but just really don't know yet.

Thanks again for the reply

828 I had the 95t2 and 98vhp and both seemed to do ok on SSB to me. Yes both drifted some but most of the sideband use was distant/skip so constantly fiddling with the clarifier was normal anyway. Never have had a local sideband talk group on 11 meters. All that said, the radio is an AM monster.

Well, after receiving a Christmas bonus I went for it. I had been considering the rci-x9 for a while, but the 95 has toshiba pills rather than the the rt1. As @H1driver said, it'll be base for me so hopefully it'll be a good one. We'll see! Been a while since buying a radio with built in amp, of course only for monitoring  because transmitting would be illegal...

Well, the 95T2 arrived today and have to say it's a neat radio. Odd to see Toshiba 2290 pills this day in age. Being 2021 almost 22, it's got a ton of features considering the time it was born to be in (almost 20 years ago). Old news of a radio but new to me.

Will do the frequency conversion tomorrow and see how it behaves.

Enjoy it for what it is.

Might need some reinforcing to keep it in place.

...not by weight, but by people wanting it...

You don't see those too much anymore!

Enjoy your Holidays using that to tell all the world...

You did the right thing, these radios are a classic that sadly Galaxy hasnt seen fit to continue.
If I had seen it for sale I would have jumped on it too as it never is a bad thing to have 2 DX-95T2's.

I am still looking for a 2nd one!
