I just found what i think is a great deal on a 1ghz protek frequency counter, and having never dealt with the company before, i was hoping someone else here had, and could tell me what to expect from their equipment.

Finding a manual online is pretty much a dead end, which is what brought on my initial concern over the quality of this counter.

I think they might be a 'no-name' supplier to other 'big-name' test equipment companies, but can't be sure about that.

there are many non related items with the 'protek' name on them also, which makes googling much more difficult.

thanks for any input!

Does this model not have the least significant digit.
1hz increments?

If so; I used to have this model. Gave it to a local Ham. It is good enough to align radios with +/- 10hz accuracy.

Before I gave it to him, I used the 10mhz rubidium clock standard I have to align it to.

Picture?

Does it look like this one? https://www.tequipment.net/ProtekB818.asp

Thanks for the replies.

I was actually looking at the 818 as there is one for sale for like 30 bucks.

But i really liked that 3rd input that is a 50 ohm input and the price on the one i got.

The seller assured me that it will do .1hz at 10mhz and is including a manual.

Do not put your radio output straight into that 50 input. You will smoke your new test gear first time you key up. I watched a fledgling technician do that. I tried to stop him but it was too late. Hated to fire him but my boss left no me choice.

oh im hip tallman.

that 50 ohm input only handles 3v peak!

i figured they meant it to be connected to an antenna, and that's what im going to do with it.
