How useful is an oscilloscope into a tranceiver or CB radio? I've had the opportunity to score a TDS-340A, could you give me some examples on how to use it? or what benefits could I get from this tool? also, I'd like to know how can I connect it to a frequency counter? I have a lectrotech FC-50

examples :
Set the oscilloscope for 50ns (.05µS) per division on the sweep selector and 10mV per division on the vertical input. Connect X10 probe to IC17 pin 13 and very carefully adjust L24 and L25 for the best waveform.
SSB Carrier Balance:
Set radio to CH 19, SSB TX mode, Mic Gain Off, connect oscilloscope to L44 (TR39C).
Adjust VR4 for Spurious Emissions to minimum.

Your examples tell you exactly what you need to know: how to preset the scope and what to adjust. You should spend some time hands-on with test gear before you actually get any, just to see how it works.

Very useful if you wish to align your own CBs or monitor your station's output. Don't hook it up directly to the output of the radio, though...you will kill it. You need to use a sampler for monitoring output. The examples you gave demonstrate typical alignment instructions. If you have no intention on doing these types of things, the O-Scope isn't all that useful.

RF Sampler.

As Mol said here is link to Rf sampler, you can make it a dual output and connect it to your freq counter also. Great work bench addition or use for monitoring your output signal

Here is how I did mine, been doing it this way for over 30 years.
My freq counter will work on the .2 volt setting with this tap.

Once upon a time, Radio Shack sold project boxes like this, in various sizes. I've probably used a couple dozen or more of them in 50+ years of hamming and general electrical stuff. You might check with them, or maybe Fry's.

I got that one at radio shack years ago and had it in one of my projects box. I did a serch and found them on Digikey I think. I will look and see if I can find that link I posted on another forum. They only sell the one that is twice that size at radio shack now.

270-235 was the part number for the box if any shack still has any of them.
The dimensions for it are 2 3/4 X 2 1/8 X 1 5/8 I got lucky and had one in a box of parts to build the one I have in line now. Went to buy another one and now all they make is the one that is twice the size. Now need to find anothe source for them if I need to do it again.

Found the box on Digi-key part number L111-ND something like 4 bucks for one.
There you go, went and found it and copied it to post here. That box is the perfect size for doing the signal tap.

Thank You. I made mine on the bigger size Radio Shack box. I put rubber feet on the bottom of it so it won't slide around and it works good but I really wanted one about the size of yours. I may build another one it was a nice project and took little time.

You are welcome and you are right doesn't take much time and has lots of uses. I put one of those double male coax adaptors on one end when I am using it on my work bench to attach it to the meter and if I want to use the scope and freq counter at the same time I put a bnc t-adapter on it and they both get enough signal to monitor with no problem.
I was sure glad to find another source for that little box myself. Projects are always fun to do.

Especially ones I can do with my limited knowledge. I also use mine with my frequency counter and oscilloscope. That is one handy little box and gets used often.

radiohobby that looks about like the one I use to sample my signal going into a dummy load while tuning a radio. mine has a lead on it for my freq counter and my scope. the main in and out connectors kaos513 are regular coax connectors and the addon for the freq and scope are bnc connectors to match the addons.
