Considering the purchase of a xts5000 403-470. For digital and analog ops. Anyone else here in Cali into digital??? How bout the sexy apx7000:rolleyes::p:thumbup::eek:

How about motoblr anyone do dms ??? I can't believe no one is interested in project 25:what:

I used to work for Emergency Services in Wicomico County. I repaired and programmed, MTS MCS 1k, 2k, 3k
XTS XTL 1k-5k and
APX 6k, 7x

I can tell you that the APX programming software is far more advanced and user friendly. The previous models all used the same style of programming. If your using the radios for amateur use only, programming wont be too in depth. But if you wanna use them for trunking applications, you will need the system key and the hex ID for the diff. talk groups.

All of those radios are damn fine and VERY robust. I personally would go with the mts series just due to there lower price. Only down side is going to be you have to build a RIB box. And obtaining a copy of the software could be tricky as well.

I see now you want digital, so that leaves you with only APX, XTS, series radios in the MOTO lineup

Well I want a xts5000 but will settle for the xts2500i or ef johnson 5100
And ill be using it for analog and digital of course 380-470.

The biggest problem facing P25 in the amateur community is local adoption. You will find that there a few people out there trying it out and experimenting with it as you are thinking about doing, but there aren't a lot. So, if you like the challenge of learning something relatively new and trying to build up a user base, go for it!

Yeap.

I see kenwood and icom both sell p25 radioa but there prices are a little steep. So far my eye's are set on the ef johnson 51sl with a yellow face

I work in public safety radio and just got a new APX 6000. What is really cool is the NTN2572A Bluetooth earpiece/microphone. Audio quality in the APX seems to be improved over the older models. P25 sounds better than Astro.

If I wear a suit and tie, I can now look like Secret Service Agent.
