I was wondering if their was any older kam's that run PACTOR with a easy hook up, like the Signal link 2 minute 2 cable hook up or something similiar..the PACTOR on the software programs doesn't connect to BBS<MARS>, models numbers or suggestions

Yes, I believe pretty much all of the Kantronics HF TNCs will run Pactor to get you into a BBS. I'm curious, which MARS service's BBS are you trying to get into? NavyMARS did away with their PACTOR BBS stuff when they switched over to winlink.

I have an older AEA DSP-2232 HF/VHF TNC that I no longer use. This was one of the better TNC's made, and I used it to do exactly what you're trying to do. The cable I have is for Icom, but you can still purchase cable's for it (or make your own). I'd part with it if you have need for it.

Yes ARMY MARS is returning to the dark ages, dropping WINLINK, and other modes which work such as mt63 and olivia...They want to use at this time wide band rtty, 110a and PACTOR nothing else..makes one wonder.

I will take up your offer on the TNC, just send me an e-mail with your address and I will send you a check<it is good>, for postage and a contribution to the web page also..

If in the meantime..where do I buy the cable..ft857d...

I'll double check, but the TNC cable I have probably works with the FT-857D also. Now that I'm thinking about it, I believe the rig side is pretty standard for data hookup; it's the TNC side that is unique. Regardless, you can get cables for just about any TNC at https://www.buxcomm.com/catalog/

BTW, Since this TNC is a VHF & HF model, you could also use it for an VHF APRS digipeater when you're not doing HF packet work. Or, you can make it an HF digipeater. Something to think about...
