The on and off switch on the 350Z was feeling a little funny the last month or so. It wouldn't switch off fully. It would switch in the off position enough to shut the amp off, but the switch itself would not close all the way. The switch actually turned the amp on by itself one time. I'm assuming it was just not fully reaching the off position. I haven't used the amp in several days, but when I went to turn it on it flipped into the on position, but the amp did not turn on. I checked the fuse on the rear of the amplifier and it's fine. The switch is now Frozen in the on position and won't budge. I gave it a shot of deoxit, and let it sit for several hours, but it's still frozen. And I mean Frozen! No matter how much pressure I put on it in order to switch it to the off position it will not move. The preamp on this 350Z has been bypass, but the switch works perfectly. Can I swap the preamp switch in order to use it for the on and off one? I have little doubt that there's no issue with the amplifier (but then again.) I know so little about the way our hobby Equipment Works, but once again I'm fairly sure the amplifier isn't turning on because the switch took a dump. I haven't opened the amplifier yet but I might do so tomorrow. If I can get a heads up on what to look for I would appreciate it. Can the switch be saved? Either way I'm going to open amp just to take a look see. I will of course unplug and discharge it before I attempt 2 swap out the switches (if that's my only choice). By the way if you're not familiar with them they are The Rocker type switches that are used on the Palomar 90 and not the up-and-down switches that are used on the 300 a. I am assuming since the switch is in the on position and stuck there without powering up the amp the switch is no longer any good. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I would hate to have to swap the 350Z for the Phantom as the 350Z was working very nicely with the sonar. Thanks again. 73 PS. I just looked at some photos I took of the top side of the 350Z a few months ago, and noticed that I need to remove the bottom cover, as the switches are apparently on the underside of the amplifier.

Most switches like that usually have the voltage/amperage specs printed somewhere on it.
At least; that is what I've seen . . .

Seen rocker-type switches like that in Astron and Pyramid power supplies - IIRC.

It's all about the current rating.

Probably molded into the plastic body of the switch if it's not printed.

I don't have any data on hand to compare one switch to the other on this model.

When I asked this question I was hoping that you would weigh in. Would a couple of detailed photos of each one of the switches and any markings on them help?

RF Parts still has the thing listed.

Priced cheap. Just gotta come up with a minimum.

I didn't understand what you meant when you wrote that I had to spend or purchase a certain amount. I never purchased anything from RF Parts, or even checked out there website. So I didn't know one needed to purchase in bulk. I thought the switch would cost around $10. So for another $18 I'll get 9 more. Looks like I'll have a lifetime's worth of 350Z rocker switches. Thanks again. 73's

I would verify that it has the correct amperage fuse in it. There might be a problem with the ammount of current being pulled throught the switch. When you take the old switch out, crack it open to see if it is melted or just had a mechanical failure.
