Par EndFedZ EF-11

I would think for 11m at this point in the solar cycle lull that an end fed antenna would be only slightly better that a dummy load. A cheapie vertical wire dipole would be much better.

Unless of course it's the only antennas you can possibly put up due to restrictions...then it's a little better than nothing.

Well, shoot. If it ain't one thing, it's another.
Guess I'll save my money and stick with a dummy load. Can't get much more stealthy than that.

Haven't tried one.But looks like a end fed half wave should work more or less the same as any other EFHW. Hey put it on a glass pole and you have An A99:D Dummy load is a bit harsh.

Iv'e had a lot of success with end feds over the years. As long as the coax is not radiating( CMC) And the matching network is a low loss design It will work fine.

vk, does the matching network prevent rf on the coax or does an end-fed need a balun or choke?

As I said before I haven't used this particular one before. Most use the coax as a counter poise so changing the coax length will change VSWR. So what I do for mono band use is to wind a choke on a pvc former loosely . I can then slide it up and down the coax length to get the best VSWR and minimal cmc.

End-feds are often used in the field as slopers with one end tossed into a tree and the end with the matcher only a couple of feet off the ground where it connects to a short coax running to the radio. Don't see how such a configuration could provide a decent counterpoise but operators claim it works great.

Then again, I can't recall ever seeing a video of a ham or CB'er saying his/her antenna setup wasn't worth a flip.
