Patriot, ground plane add on

My patriot is very similar to the old Big Stick antenna except it is 12' in length it is a 2 piece fiberglass whip. I have just noticed a add on product that you can install 5 six' foot aluminum ground plane radials to it by just clamping it around the metal part on the bottom of the antenna where the U bolts are for installation. Does this really improve the performance of this antenna as they state very large db gains. It is priced around $50.00.

i never had this antenna so im gonna go with what i seen with my a-99
rx= was slightly quieter
tx =out 30 mileplus range maybe a half s-unit better
on the a-99 there wasnt a big difference but there was a slight difference
if money isnt tight maybe worth a try.a better bet would be get 4 102
whips and use that as a groundplane kit tghen you,d have a slightly
longer starduster

I say put the $50 in the bank and then add another $50 and purchase Max2000. Had a Patriot and replaced it with the Imax and the difference was astounding.

I Googled the imax 2000 it has great reviews and the ground plane kit does improve it's performance truly.

Yep, I thought maybe it was all hype, but the imax2000 just plain works.

i'll suggesting adding $10 to the $50 and getting a workman 58 from palco .
