pc68xl Rf Gain/TX power Meter problems

could be a hair line short in your coax or connector ? could be dirt in your rf gain knob ? hard to say.

is always having your RF gain at max a bad idea. i think someone told me that somewhere on the forum. how do you clean out the RF gain knob. i dont think its my coax its RADIOSHACK GRADE rg-8 i switched from rg-58 because someone told me it was crap.

my rf gain is always open full , same as my sqeulch . , tech spray (tuner clearner can be sprayed into the rf gain pot,if one is dirty chances are they all are, so spray them all while your at it) I would still check for short in the line and make sure the antenna is solidly pieced together.

im pretty sure its not the magnet mount because it does it with both of my antennas. my 48'' fiberglass one and the magmount so im not really sure whats up. should i take the antenna inside and paste gobs of silicon around the connections for the winter time since it should start snowing up around near me pretty soon.

Having the RF gain up all the time won't hurt anything. I'd use a light coating of sealant if you want to keep out the crud. Don't put gobs and gobs over everything. Liquid electrical tape would work well. As for your problem with the RF gain, clean or replace it.
