PL259 Re-Wiring

I have a coax that needs to be re-wired. I have the PL259 screw on.... How can i do a good job on it... I have tried and tried and still not getting any reception....



Can someone help me... Mabye a website or something...

Personally, I don't like the screw on type. Learning how to solder them on is well worth the effort. However, if you don't have a soldering iron/gun, then you're kind've stuck with the screw on type. What type of coax are you attaching this to? Do you need to use a reducer?

You're going to need a reducer with that. Did you get one? Also, if you make an investment in a soldering iron, get some extra coax and and connectors to practice on, it'll pay off in the long run. Learning how to solder connectors takes a little practice, but it's well worth it.

look at the back side of the pl-259. If the diameter of that is much wider than the coax you're going to use, then you need a little collar that fits inside the pl-259 so that it fits properly. That little collar screws into the connector and is called a reducer. Now that I'm typing this, I remember seeing some screw-on PL-259's that already had the reducer built in. That may be what you have.
