What you're looking for is commonly called a "bench" counter. Has a jack on the front for input, usually a BNC socket. Literally hundreds of models and brands have come and gone since the early 1970s when the technology became available. Decades ago, they took up a cabinet 8 or 10 inches wide, around that deep. Technology has shrunk them down, the way a cell phone is no longer the size of a paving brick.
Just one question. Why do you need a frequency counter for a radio that has the frequency displayed on the front panel?
You'll find a selection on chinabay.
These guys offer lab-grade versions that sell for more than that radio.
I was hoping to find a reasonably priced counter that I could plug into my rci2995dxcf. The 2995 likes to drift a bit and I would like to know where my transmit frequency is.
A fleabay search turns up a range of 40 and 50-year old specimens. Newer ones are the size of a pocket calculator.
I'm not used to seeing that model drift a lot. If it's the "CF" version it's not old enough to have dirty trimmer caps on the internal frequency adjustments.
About the first 30 minutes it moves a bit, then levels out. I thought there might be something out there that was readily available. Thank you for the replies.
So I have a cobra 138xlr and the meter dose not work... It dose not key up and signal dose not work.... It is not stuck it the meter moves freely. now wires are resoldered on both ends...So now that do I look at. Could it be a diode or a transistor?
