I had a customer come into my shop on Wednesday and he was hauling scrap in his truck, well one of the things he had was one of those big folding stands to hold up temporary road signs. It had no pole just the base and legs and 1 was badly bent. I bought it from him for $5 and fixed the leg and welded a telescopic 16' aluminum flagpole to it that I "borrowed" from a friend years ago. I then went and bought a I-max and using wing nuts mounted it to the top and I'm using 50' RG8. I put this up behind by fence and talked a little today and it's working good. I can loosen the wing nuts and slide the antenna down and lay this down against my house when not in use. I am loving sticking it to the local historical home authority! Until I get licensed I think this is the best I can do. I am thinking about drilling holes through the legs so I can stake it down in windy conditions. I just had to share as I'm so happy!:D:D:D

Something I've seen done is to weld a flat plate on the bottom of each leg, then drill a hole in that plate for a stake to go through. It won't make it 'permanent' but ought'a keep it moderately 'fixed' in one place.
