I can't imagine what the FCC was thinking when they gave the go-ahead for this. If the public get upset about a 100 watt cellular transmitter in their backyard imagine what they would think about the transmitter site also having a 15 Kw transmitter on L-band at around 1.5 GHz. Hello 4G wireless, goodbye GPS.

Oh it will cause interference, CDMA based carriers, your screwed. Had a site go down the other day, due to no gps signal for network timing. Replaced the cable, GPS (twice), the RFU, etc. Tried relocating GPS in several places then realized my Garmin didnt work either, and it got worse as you went out away from the tower. Ended up bringing out a spectrum analyzer and it went like ...spike...spike.......................spike... And no its not another GPS internal amp shorted out making it act like an oscillator. So now I guess its up to the carrier I work for to get their shit together and file complaint to the FCC, but from what I was told for carriers the burden of proof is up to you.

BTW, 15kw is more than anything you encounter up on a tower besides FM&TV broadcasters or maybe long distance microwave hops, all of which are pretty obvious to climbers, but this I would suspect looks just like cellular. RF sickness anyone?
