I got a Powerband RFX75 in today. I thought I'd snap a couple of up close pics to give an idea of what it looks like and how large it is.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet...I just wanted to see what they looked like. I might pick up a radio to install it on, or I might just sell it.

yeah, and what are the specs on that erf7530?

I don't know. I searched around on the web and all I could find is that RF Parts has them for $10.50ea.

It certainly is a whole lot of hoopla for something that's just a couple of transistors, signal sampler (for S-Meter) and a low pass filter.

Have the ERF7530 been around a long time? I can't seem to find any data sheets on them anywhere. Maybe B&D Enterprises or Mouser might. But a quick check on the web shows nothing.

I,too,bought a couple of these to,"eventually" if ever,put into a rig someday.
Now I just gotta get the time and decide which rig to put them in! I've read on some of the other forums that these have a high DOA rate from the factory tho! I hope my 2 aren't in this category? Just something else to tinker with ya know.
Slim.

I have installed this in a cobra 29 chrome special edition and afterwards did some research on it. I have heard of a lot of these being DOA and you wont know it until you have tried to install and fire it up; and the company that manufactures it is hard pressed to stand behind it because we are modifying it to work outside its real purpose which is a final transistor replacement for the Magnum series radios. They know good and well what people intend to do with this product and once you do a few snips on the board to install and it is DOA it is all yours. I would recommend not clipping any wires on it and do the install exactly as described and if it doesn't work send it back. On cbtricks.com they have a trouble shoot area incase of no output or output fade due to a piss poor choice for the capacitor at c8 that fades during extended keydown and dies. I would also exchange out this capacitor before installing; it is far too difficult to uninstall and replace afterwards. Especially if you have hot glued anything down as I did. Good luck.

If all of what you saud is true, then I won't buy one either. I bought Chinese 1969's that work off of eBay; but if I buy another ERF2030, IRF520N, or have to buy any ERF7530's that I get DOA from eBay or anywhere else - forgetaboutit.
I don't NEED the aggrevation....

The ERF7530 is probably an off the shelf FET like the EFR2030.
We are pretty sure the ERF2030 is just a IRF520. It certainly behaves like one.

Now off to find what the ERF7530 is.

You can play with the values of the C8 cap and get neat results. I bumped it up from 820 pf to a 1uf and am getting about 155 watts out of an older connex 3300. Its been running like this for awhile now and I use it for good long evening rag chews! Im working on combining 2 of these units into one radio, but im running into combiner issues and one rfx working harder than the other, But I am seeing about 185 with hopes of about 300:) and NO!!! Its not clean at these levels! It is good and clean at 125 watts per RFX!
