Counterpoise is what most people call the ground plane, typically the metal body of most vehicles. Where the antenna is in relation to the counterpoise (or the metal body) effects the tuning of the antenna as well as its radiation pattern.
Every vehicle is different. Every antenna is different. Every place you mount the antenna on the vehicle is different. The best thing to do is mount your antenna where you wish to run it and then tune it.
I don't know that I would personally trust an average, it will likely work but there are to many variables at play, and likely will not be the absolute best for your needs.
Cool, its on a steel 3/4" tube 16" tall, with a flat mounting surface of
2 1/5" x2 1/5" just above the cab. BUT the overall length is about 65"
